DSLR: Playing with Light

by Josh Kenzer on December 23rd, 2008

I’m progressing in my use of the Canon DSLR. I think I have achieve proficiency, and am now experimenting on becoming good with the camera. I did a series of photos last night where I left the shutter open for for more than a few seconds and “painted with light.” I the images below, I went into a dark room, opened the shutter for five seconds and “wrote” on the wall with a laser pointer. You can view the whole set on Flickr.

From Internet

  • that's a cool thing you did with the shots. i bet it would be great if you write in cursive though or maybe use something that is more dramatic...like the flame of a candle

    :)
  • I tried to write Merry Christmas in cursive. I think I need a little more
practice. I think I will try using a lighter next.
  • I just love that. I'm into photography and have some I would like to share on my flickr acct. See link below
  • Wow, that's a great idea...amazing...
