Get $15 for taking the Technorati Survey

by Josh Kenzer on July 19th, 2006

While at Technorati this morning, I noticed a small link in the upper left to take a survey. Being in marketing, I am a sucker for surveys. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they – or more likely the backer of the survey – was also going to pay me $15 to complete it (where can I find more of these types of deals?). The survey asked about websites I managed both personally and at work.

It was quite clear that the survey was commissioned by Yahoo in regards to their new adsense-like model they want to roll out. They asked me to compare brand loyalty between the two brands and then asked me a series of questions about if Yahoo Publisher Network had a certain feature, would I use it. It sounds like Yahoo is working on some pretty awesome ad revenue driven features including simple integrations of del.icio.us, flickr and possibly an analytics package. The questions didn’t outright say whether you would be able to make money with these features but it somewhat alluded to that.

My perception after the survey is that Yahoo Publisher Network will not just be adsense under a new name by a different company. Instead, I got the impression that Yahoo is really thinking outside the box on what it can do to one up Google in this area. It will be interesting to see.

UPDATE 1:20 PM 7/18/06: It was rightfully pointed out that I should link to the survey. So here is a link to the survey.
